The Mystery of the Sphinx is a 1993 documentary about the wonder that is The Great Sphinx of Giza.
The documentary focuses on the conflict between egyptologists and geologists regarding the age of the Great Sphinx on the Giza plateau in Egypt. It does so by suggesting the Sphinx water erosion hypothesis.
Ridiculed by traditional Egyptologists but supported by geologist Robert Schoch, John Anthony West cites water erosion as evidence that the Great Sphinx is more than 9,000 years old.
“If the water weathering hypothesis can’t be overturned, the Sphinx, almost unarguably the greatest sculpture on earth, has to date from a time when there is not even supposed to be civilisation.”John Anthony West | Graham Hancock Interview
The host of the documentary, which features Egyptologist John Anthony West and writer Richard C. Hoagland, is actor Charlton Heston.
