Digital Debt and Global Governance – Whitney Webb and Mark Goodwin | Big Picture
Total Control
Digital Debt, Global Governance – 3 Mar 2024 | Big Picture
In this interview with Mark Goodwin, investigative journalist Whitney Webb warns about the dangers of digital IDs, CBDCs (central bank digital currencies), and the potential for totalitarian control through these technologies.
Webb and Goodwin discuss how digital IDs, CBDCs, and ESGs (environmental, social, and governance factors) are the three pillars of the new multipolar world order being pushed by governments globally. Digital IDs enable surveillance and control at the transactional level, allowing authorities to micromanage people’s lives based on their digital footprint.
CBDCs, whether retail or wholesale, increase the ability for surveillance, blacklisting, and programmatic control of money. Webb emphasises that capital creation has never been a public sector gambit, but a necessity for the digitised financial system.
Webb advises people to decide their red lines and set up their lives to avoid having to compromise them, such as refusing to use digital IDs. She warns that as soon as digital IDs are required to go online, it’s time to disconnect from the internet.
The interview highlights the need for vigilance against these emerging technologies, which could enable totalitarian control over individuals and the environment under the guise of free market capitalism and altruism.
